The Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) is a hugely prestigious international photography competition, which has run annually now for 22 years.  It always attracts a huge range and number of entries from across the world. The winners are always truly inspirational, from wildlife, landscapes to people from all walks of life - the winners galleries are always such a joy to browse. I'd highly recommend taking a look at the 2024 TPOTY Winners.
My 2025 TPOTY Progress - Finalist!
I'm thrilled to announce that I'm a finalist of the 2025 Travel Photographer of the Year in two categories - the first being Rising Talent and the second being Slow Travel (One Shot). I can't specify the photographs until the results are announced which is scheduled for the 25th January.
You can view the complete lists of the Finalists for the 2025 TPOTY here: TPOTY 2025 Finalists
Do check back here soon - I will update this page with my entries once the results are announced.
The TPOTY Rising Talent Award
The exciting one for me is the Rising Talent Award. This has an incredible prize in the 2025 edition - a fully mentored/coached photography trip to Sri Lanka. The information can be seen here: Rising Talent 2025 Prizes
I've made the final 14 in this category, which was no doubt hotly contested. There are five places to go to Sri Lanka for the Rising Talent prize. As you can probably guess - this would be such a huge achievement and hugely beneficial for my photography journey.
For those that don’t know, I only started taking my photography more seriously for around 3 years ago, and in that time I feel like my photography has improved dramatically, and momentum has continuously and cumulatively been building. I’m now at a stage where I would love to further progress my photography, and to do that the mentoring the TPOTY Rising Talent award would bring would be invaluable.
As part of the final step, you have to provide RAW files alongside caption/credits & a declaration. In addition, for Rising Talent, several essay style question responses.
The TPOTY Slow Planet Award
This does not mean to say the Slow Planet (One Shot) finalist position is not appreciated. It really is, and I’m excited to share the photograph for this once results are announced. I'm interested to see if it received an award!
The 2024 Edition of the Travel Photographer of the Year
Last year in the 2024 edition of the Travel Photographer of the Year, I was really pleased to have a portfolio selected as a shortlisted finalist for a series of Black & White landscape photographs from the Caledonian Forest in Scotland. These four images made the shortlist / finalist group for the Planet Earth - landscape, climate & water category.
There was an extremely heavy covering of snow tha transformed the beautiful ancient Caledonian Forest and landscape into a winter wonderland. The use of Black and White helped simplify these complex landscapes into a cohesive series, and I was thrilled to be a finalist!
I hope you enjoy these photographs.
