Henley Arts Trail & Oxfordshire Art Weeks

I exhibited framed, mounted and fine art prints at Busby K Studio & Gallery in Nuffield, as part of the Henley Arts Trail and Oxfordshire Art Weeks.

A flock of Canada geese lifts from the water in front of Temple Island, Henley-on-Thames, as dense dawn blue hur fog dissolves the trees into soft blue-grey tones. The neoclassical fishing lodge, designed by James Wyatt in 1771, materialises just clearly enough to anchor the scene without dominating it. The simultaneous stillness of the swimming birds along the foreground and the kinetic burst of the departing flock creates a rare layering of mood and movement.

This May, I am thrilled to be participating simultaneously in two of the region's most celebrated creative events: the Henley Arts Trail and Oxfordshire Art Weeks. It is a fantastic opportunity to bring my digital portfolio into the physical world, and I would love to invite you to view the collection in person.

Sharing my work online is wonderful, but there is an undeniable magic in seeing a meticulously printed and framed photograph up close, where the textures and subtle light gradients can truly be appreciated.

Months of perseverance and scouting led to this capture. This woodland is local to me, but took some time to find 'the' specific woodland and composition I wanted - then I waited through the entire bluebell season to get this shot with many early alarms and failed attempts. The weather in 2024 was consistently grey with low pressure, now allowing the conditions I hoped for. This was captured just at the end of the bluebell season, due to the cobwebs being spun on the bluebell flowers. The light was perfect, with the warm sun casting beautiful sunbeams through the fresh green leaves of the ancient beech trees in this copse. This specific photograph is pleasing due to the light splitting the scene, with a distinct sun beam cutting the scene in two. Above is the canopy and beautiful leaves, below is the stunning light and bluebells, creating a balanced, ethereal and magical springtime scene.

The autumn colours were truly spectacular in this woodland in the Chiltern Hills in Oxfordshire. The deep late autumn greens turning into gold at the edges, just at this transition into winter. The fog was thick enough to help soften the background, however left enough light and detail through to give the scene wonderful depth. The result is an almost painterly scene that invites you to walk down the path and explore this woodland further.

A massively girthed veteran oak, its bark fissured and moss-laden, stands amid bracken and autumn beech woodland in Savernake Forest, under flat November light. Epiphytic ferns colonise the upper trunk, evidence of decades of moisture retention within a sheltered understorey. The diffuse overcast suppresses shadow, allowing the bark texture and the copper-and-gold woodland beyond to hold equal weight.

I will be exhibiting my work at the beautiful Busby K Studio & Gallery, located in the tranquil setting of Nuffield. This charming venue is perfectly situated for those exploring the wider arts trails across Oxfordshire and near Henley-on-Thames. The gallery space provides a relaxed, intimate environment that allows the artwork to breathe, making it an ideal stop on your weekend art tour. I'll be exhibiting alongside six other fantastic artists showcasing ceramics, paintings, jewellery and stoneware.

For this exhibition, I have curated a diverse selection of my portfolio. Visitors will be able to view a range of my award-winning landscape photographs alongside several brand-new, unseen pieces. I have prepared these works in a variety of formats to suit different spaces and budgets, including fully framed statement pieces ready to hang, mounted prints perfect for your own choice of frame, and loose prints. Whether you are a collector looking for a specific centrepiece for your home or simply browsing for inspiration, there will be plenty to explore.

I am particularly looking forward to the social aspect of these events. Photography can often be a solitary pursuit, so having the chance to discuss locations, techniques, and the stories behind the images with visitors is incredibly rewarding. I will be at the gallery for most of the weekend and bank holiday dates throughout the events.
