Fine Art Landscape Photography Prints from Christopher Harrison

I'm Christopher Harrison, a photographer specialising in landscape, woodland and aerial photography from Britain and his travels. I mainly spend time out with my camera and drone at sunrise, chasing mist & fog throughout the seasons, and finding unique compositions to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. I've held a camera from an early age, starting with an entry level Sony DSLR in my teenage years, and moving through the Sony ecosystem to my current camera, a Sony a7R V - paired with three Sigma lenses, the 14-24mm, 24-70mm and the 70-200mm. I've also used drones for over five years, starting with early DJI models to my current Mavic 3 Pro. I hold an A2 CoC license. Please enjoy browsing my portfolio, photographs are grouped into Collections, the Journal includes stories, blogs and posts about my photography and every photograph is available to purchase as a fine art print. All of the prints are printed by me, at home, on my Canon PRO-1000 professional printer.

Every print is made by me on my own printer, signed by hand, and posted rolled in a tube.

Morning fog moves through eucalyptus woodland on the slopes above Canhas, Madeira, softening the canopy into successive planes of green and white. The aerial perspective flattens depth, turning the mist into a graphic field that isolates individual crowns and bare snags. A small flash of red blossom near centre provides the single note of colour in an otherwise subdued palette.

Morning sun catches the upper canopy of a steep eucalyptus and laurisilva forest slope on Madeira, separating sunlit crowns from a misty blue-grey valley below. The diagonal band of illumination creates a natural division between light and shadow across the densely wooded hillside. Captured from altitude in late spring, the image reads as near-abstract despite its documentary clarity.

A veteran Til tree — Ocotea foetens — spreads its contorted limbs through dense fog at Fanal, Madeira's ancient laurisilva forest. Warm backlight from low dawn sun filters through the cloud, silhouetting the twisted branch structure against a luminous ground mist. The gnarled root buttresses and mossy plateau floor reinforce the age and isolation of this extraordinary tree.

Crepuscular rays penetrate fog between the sprawling limbs of old-growth laurisilva trees, most likely within the laurel forest of Garajonay or Fanal, Madeira. A solitary figure stands at the forest floor, lending scale to the cathedral-like spread of the dominant trunk. The mist acts as a scattering medium, rendering each beam distinct against the dark understory.

A monumental laurisilva tree spreads its wind-tortured limbs into dawn mist, its gnarled silhouette suspended between warm backlight and cold blue fog. The fallen branch arcing to the ground echoes the age and weight of the tree, while receding forms dissolve into the vapour behind. The scene carries the atmosphere of Fanal, Madeira's ancient laurel forest.

A massive laurisilva tree dominates the foreground in Madeira's Fanal forest, its gnarled trunk silhouetted against a striking division of cold blue mist to the left and warm amber fog-light to the right. The tonal opposition — cool shadow world against glowing dawn — gives the composition an almost theatrical tension without artifice. Supporting trees recede into layered fog, reinforcing both depth and the forest's primordial scale.
