Winter Photography
Winter is my favourite season to photograph and it is not close. The trees are bare so the shapes do the work, the light stays low all day instead of for twenty minutes, and hoar frost turns an ordinary hedgerow into something worth standing in the cold for.
Most of these are from the Chilterns and the Thames Valley, with a run of frosted mornings from the Cairngorms. A good number were made with the drone - a frosted woodland from above is a completely different photograph to the same woodland from the path, and getting up over an inversion on a still winter morning is about as good as this gets.
You do have to be out there, mind. Nothing in this collection happened at a civilised hour.
