A hoar-frosted silver birch stands at the margin of a still loch in the Cairngorms, photographed from above the canopy in the cold blue light of a December morning. The mirror-calm water flattens to a near-abstract wash of deep royal blue behind the white-etched canopy, stripping the scene to pure form and tone. The aerial perspective removes any horizon, leaving tree and water as the only subjects.

Frozen by the Loch Cairngorms National Park From £55

At first glance, this tree looks to be standing on a hilltop, covered in hoar frost, backed by a beautiful deep blue sky. However, on further inspection it becomes clear it has fallen onto it's side into a remote Scottish Loch. This was captured in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland, on a bitterly cold winters morning, in December 2025. Whilst it was well below freezing, the water had not frozen as it was the first day of this cold spell.

A flock of Canada geese lifts from the water in front of Temple Island, Henley-on-Thames, as dense dawn blue hur fog dissolves the trees into soft blue-grey tones. The neoclassical fishing lodge, designed by James Wyatt in 1771, materialises just clearly enough to anchor the scene without dominating it. The simultaneous stillness of the swimming birds along the foreground and the kinetic burst of the departing flock creates a rare layering of mood and movement.

Beautiful old beech trees stand backlit from the golden sunrise, where bluebells carpet the woodland floor. A branch looks to be floating above the bluebells in the wonderful springtime conditions. The purple flowers of the native bluebells run into the distance towards the golden light of sunrise.

The purple of the bluebells and greens of the beech trees are strikingly beautiful in this Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) capture from West Woods in England. ICM is somewhat of a contentious subject in landscape photography, often with conflicting opinions on it. For me, sometimes, it works. For this capture, I just love how it is still clear what the scene is of - allowing just enough room for imagination on what it would be like to stand in this scene.

An absolutely magical scene from Brightwell Barrow in Oxfordshire, where a small group of trees on a 'barrow' stands above the mist, where the sunrise is lighting the scenes in the most beautiful orange, yellow and pink pastel hues.

A temperature inversion buries a wooded valley beneath dense fog, leaving the lone clump of trees on the Brightwell Barrow hilltop isolated against a pale winter sky. Bare deciduous canopies pierce the fog layer in the foreground, receding in tonal gradients toward the distant hill. Shot from low drone altitude above the Thames Valley in Oxfordshire at first light, the panoramic frame distils the scene to three horizontal bands: tree, fog, hill. Black and white works so well here, dissolving the scene of stark blues and whites into beautiful monochrome.

Whilst the crop here is shown as 2:1 panoramic, this is available as a 3:2, filling more of the paper sizes I have available (A4, A3, A2). Let me know your preference when ordering.

Sunrise Beams over Oxfordshire Brightwell Barrow From £55

A solitary small group of trees casts a long dark shadow across a fog-covered arable field on the slopes of Brightwell Barrow, near the Wittenham Clumps in Oxfordshire, as low winter sunrise strikes horizontally through the mist. The aerial perspective reduces the scene to near-pure geometry: a diagonal line of darkness dividing cold blue shadow from warm amber light. The tree reads as both subject and instrument, the agent producing the image's central tension.

The Long Shadow Brightwell Barrow From £55

A partially frozen lochan holds open water against a snow-covered Caledonian pine forest near Aviemore, Cairngorms, as low winter sun rakes long tree shadows across the white ground. The organic curve of the water body anchors the composition, its dark surface contrasting sharply with the luminous snowfield. Warm backlight from the south dissolves the valley into haze, lending depth to an otherwise monochrome terrain.

An Ancient Sentinel From £55

The autumn colours were truly spectacular in this woodland in the Chiltern Hills in Oxfordshire. The deep late autumn greens turning into gold at the edges, just at this transition into winter. The fog was thick enough to help soften the background, however left enough light and detail through to give the scene wonderful depth. The result is an almost painterly scene that invites you to walk down the path and explore this woodland further.

Where Pixies Dwell The Chilterns From £55

For this Summer photograph, I captured beech trees that were backlit during a foggy sunrise. I just love the pillars of the beech trunks, and the deep greens of the leaves. Temperatures in summer are now often very high, and woodlands provide essential shelter and cooler temperatures for our wildlife. Trees are extremely efficient at absorbing heat, and helping cool our environment.
From a composition perspective, I love how these trunks work together in silouhette. The low growth on the central tree provides a key focal point to the photograph, and as you study it, your eye is drawn to various other aspects, such as the glowing light in the woodland void behind, the younger trees in the foreground and the deep greens at the edges of the frame. I also love the monotone style of this photograph, being blacks, greens and whites.
I captured this photograph with my Sony A7RIV paired with the Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 DG DN Art lens.
Camera Settings were 3.2s, f/11, ISO100 at 48mm focal length on a tripod.
Note: There was no wind on this morning, hence the use of a long shutter speed without impact on the photograph. I wanted to ensure the light was "glowing" through the trees, and that the trees were silouhetted.

Months of perseverance and scouting led to this capture. This woodland is local to me, but took some time to find 'the' specific woodland and composition I wanted - then I waited through the entire bluebell season to get this shot with many early alarms and failed attempts. The weather in 2024 was consistently grey with low pressure, now allowing the conditions I hoped for. This was captured just at the end of the bluebell season, due to the cobwebs being spun on the bluebell flowers. The light was perfect, with the warm sun casting beautiful sunbeams through the fresh green leaves of the ancient beech trees in this copse. This specific photograph is pleasing due to the light splitting the scene, with a distinct sun beam cutting the scene in two. Above is the canopy and beautiful leaves, below is the stunning light and bluebells, creating a balanced, ethereal and magical springtime scene.

Sunbeams rake through morning mist in a beech woodland in the Chilterns, Oxfordshire, carpeted with bluebells at peak bloom. The low-angled light catches individual shafts between smooth grey trunks, lifting the violet floor against a pale, fog-softened interior. A fallen branch in the mid-ground anchors the composition without disrupting the stillness.

Bluebells at Sunrise - BWPA British Seasons Winner The Chilterns From £55

A temperature inversion buries the glens beneath the Glencoe Buachaille in a still sea of cloud, leaving the rocky summit emerging into first light above. The crescent moon holds its position in a steel-blue sky as alpenglow catches the peak's upper ridgeline. The surrounding peaks glow red from the sunrise.

The cloud inversion during this sunrise was spectacular, with the sun managing just to break through to backlight the iconic Lagangarbh Hut (the wee white house) in the Glencoe Valley, with a huge shadow behind from the Buachaille, shrouded in the fog. To help soften the colours, I converted this to Black & White, as I think it best represents this scene.

Into the Dunes From £55

From the drone’s unique perspective, Vietnams island town of Phu Quoc emerges as a vibrant tapestry of narratives. The turquoise river is the crucial artery of this town, hosting many fishing boats, some heading out to sea. On land, a mosaic forms – buildings, trees, and roads create harmony, leaving no inch of land unused. To me, this is where stories unfurl: the lives behind the structures, the journeys of boats and cars, and the whispers of history. This is what i love about drone photography, the perspectives which otherwise would be impossible.
