A Relict Morning

Fanal Forest · Spring

Ancient laurel trees arch through dispersing mist in the Madeiran laurisilva, a relict forest of Tertiary origin. Diffuse dawn light catches moss-laden limbs reaching across the frame, the mid-ground dissolving into layered fog. The interplay of tortured branch structure and soft atmospheric depth gives the scene an uncommon stillness.
