Before It Burned Clear

Val d'Orcia · Autumn

A temperature inversion fills the Val d'Orcia valleys with layered mist at dawn, isolating a hilltop farmstead and its cypress avenue as a lone silhouette against the rising sun. Aerial perspective compresses the rolling Sienese hills into receding tonal bands, the foreground fog mass anchoring the frame. Captured in the last minutes before the inversion burned clear.

The misty sunrises in Tuscany are truly unbeatable. The rolling hills, avenues of cypress trees & hilltop farm houses make for wonderful layers running to the horizon. When the mist does what this scene depicts so beautifully, it creates something truly magical. The perspective of the drone adds to the depth of the scene and truly gets across the scale and beauty of the Tuscan landscape.
