Midday Like Dusk

Fanal Forest · Spring

A veteran laurel tree spreads moss-laden limbs through the fog of Madeira's laurisilva forest. Mist diffuses the midday light into something close to dusk, erasing distance and drawing the eye along the serpentine branch that crosses the frame. The ancient, contorted structure and dense epiphytic moss speak to centuries of cloud-forest humidity.
