The Lone One and the Fallen

Fanal Forest · Spring

A lone laurisilva tree emerges from dense fog in the ancient laurel forest of Fanal, Madeira, flanked by two fallen and heavily weathered trunks. The ghost of a second tree recedes into the mist behind, compressing the scene into a single tonal plane. The panoramic frame and monochrome conversion heighten the stillness and geological age of the forest floor.
