Crepuscular rays pierce a canopy of ancient laurel trees as morning mist lingers between the trunks. The interplay of silhouetted branches against diffused backlight gives the forest a cathedral quality, the moss-carpeted floor anchoring the composition below. Fanal forest, Madeira, is the most plausible location given the distinctive gnarled laurisilva structure.
